Roots was envisioned and designed to be a hub for community in Kingsholm and we have been thrilled to see how a diverse selection of groups from the community have used our space to gather and grow.

help your local community


Looking for an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in your community? Why not come and volunteer at one of our regular groups? Check them out below and get in touch if you're interested!

Coffee Shop

Join the coffee shop team and help out in the general day to day tasks in the coffee shop.

Little Tots Baby & Toddler group
Every Friday

On Friday mornings we run a group for parents/carers and their little ones (aged 0-4).  We are always keen to have some extra pairs of hands to help with playing, crafts, snacks and singing.  

Games Night
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month

Come along and play various board games for the evening. Help serve refreshments, join in with new players. 

After School Club 
Tuesdays 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Volunteers get involved in craft activities with the children, cooking with them, helping set up and clear away, preparing snacks, playing games including table tennis, Wii and board games. 

Knit and Natter
Monday Mornings 10:00am - 12:00pm

Volunteers are needed to come and lend a hand. Even if you can’t knit and want to learn, or just to have a chat with those who come along. 

English Practise
Thursdays 1:00pm- 3:00pm

Volunteers welcome to come and chat to those learning English and give an extra hand where needed. 

Holiday Events
School Holidays

We always try to hold special events during the school holidays, including cooking classes for children, family fun days, and lego club to name a few. We're always looking for volunteers to help with these events on the day. 

Community Meal
Every 2nd Sunday of the month

Our volunteers out on a two-course lunch for local residents for just £1. Help is often needed to set up, cook, clear away, or just come and chat to those who come along.
